The Digital Workspace Ecosystem Alliance (DWEA) recently published The State of the Digital Workspace 2023 report which dives into what digital workspaces have been experiencing over the past year. Join us as we review some of the highlights from the report around printing and the future of the digital workspace.
Printing is a necessary function for many businesses but making it operate smoothly in remote and work from home scenarios can be difficult. Network printing increases in complexity when deployed in a hybrid environment. Firewall access needs to be managed for remote employees as well which inevitably leads to security concerns. Respondents to the DWEA survey are familiar with these difficulties as 97% of them said they manage printing or scanning themselves.
Over half (53.5%) of DWEA survey participants reported that managing printing or scanning at remote locations is a challenge with their hybrid workforce. The challenges didn’t end there for survey participants as 43.7% reported problems with securing sensitive printed or scanned information. Additionally, just under one-third (31.1%) of respondents struggle with printer and scanner driver management.
With organizations facing all of these challenges in their digital workspaces, it should come as no shock that many view cloud printing as a superior solution to printing challenges. 93.1% of survey participants noted their cloud strategy involved cloud printing. More than half of the survey respondents also reported IT teams were either spending less time on print-related support or enjoying a combination of a superior print experience, lower costs, and less time investment.
DWEA’s survey results clearly illustrate IT teams need a single solution that allows them total control over their printing and scanning environment. Solutions which optimize driver management and have robust endpoint management should make printing and scanning a breeze for organizations trying to round out their digital workspace.
